Little Capi Had a Farm

2:45

An adorable version of the classic children's song starring little Capi and his farm animals.

The Amigurumis version of the farm song, with Capi as the owner of the farm and his animals turning up one by one. Capi is a capybara, an explorer and a planner, and the farm is his world, so the song lands naturally in his territory. The structure is cumulative: each round adds a new animal and repeats all the previous ones, which is the mechanism by which this kind of song is learned without anyone teaching it. The child anticipates the sound before it arrives, and getting it right is half the fun.

What this piece works on

  • Animal sounds and pairing each one with the animal that makes it.
  • Cumulative memory: every round asks the child to recall the whole list again.
  • Turn taking and sequence, because the animals enter in an order that repeats the same way.

Watching together

One of the best for the youngest, from age two. Try making the wrong sound on purpose: correcting an adult is enormously satisfying at this age.
